Goodall Youth Scholarship Fund
The Goodall Youth Scholarship Fund was created by the Rotary Club of Salisbury (SA) to help local young people during one of the most critical transitions in their lives — moving from primary to high school. Education is one of the most effective pathways to break cycles of disadvantage, and the fund aims to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

What is the Goodall Youth Scholarship Fund?
A perpetual fund — only the interest earned is used for scholarships, allowing the fund to be sustainable for generations to come.
Aiming for a $100,000 capital base, with over $50,000 raised so far while continuing to support local students.
Funds are kept separate from the Rotary Club’s other charitable accounts.
Why this focus?
The transition to high school can be a high-risk time for educational disengagement.
Many families face financial pressure for uniforms and school supplies.
Supporting students at this point helps them start high school with confidence.
How does it work?
Scholarships of $300–$400 per student are offered annually to 10 local public primary schools.
Schools nominate students in need.
Each recipient receives:
A certificate
A Rotary pen
A uniform voucher
An Officeworks voucher
History and Growth
Named in honour of Alan, Betty, and Brian Goodall, long-serving Rotary and community members.
The first scholarship was awarded at Pooraka Primary School with the support of Kaye Goodall, who continues as Ambassador for the fund.
Officially launched during President Cathy Perry’s year with support from the Office of Zoe Bettison MP.
Initially guided by a working group, the fund now operates under the Rotary Youth Team led by Rick Henke.
Fundraising and Community Support
Annual fundraising events include quiz nights, wine and cheese nights, Christmas stocking raffles, and an upcoming “giant present raffle” in 2025.
Plans are underway for a regional photography fundraiser in 2026.
Approximately 32 students have been supported to date, with scholarships provided confidentially to protect family privacy.
Rotarians in Action
“A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
Through the Goodall Youth Scholarship Fund, Salisbury Rotarians are planting seeds of opportunity for future generations — investing their time, skills, and resources to help local young people thrive.
