60 Years of Service Luncheon

On November 5th, 2023, The Rotary Club of Salisbury (SA) celebrated 60 years of service. This significant milestone was marked with a luncheon at the Salisbury Hub.

The event was attended by a variety of guests, including DGN ML Lees, Mayor Gillian Aldridge, her partner Robin, past and present Rotarians, their partners, Honorary Rotarians, ‘Friends of Rotary,’ ‘Special Friends of Rotary,’ friends, and families.

The afternoon was dedicated to celebrating the impact our Club has had in Salisbury since its founding in 1963. President Kristianne addressed the audience, reflecting on the Club, her role as president, and what 60 years of service meant. Her speech was penned by PP Rick Henke.

We also had the privilege of hearing from our longest-serving Rotarian, PP Roger Dennis, who shared insights into our Club’s history and 60-year journey. Public Image Director Damien Walker paid tribute to Our Club’s six decades of service, highlighting the impact we’ve made in our community over time. Many attendees also shared their Rotary Club of Salisbury moments and highlights. Upon reflection, it’s clear that a lot has changed, including our presidents, Members, and even our logo, but one thing that remains unwavering is Our Club’s commitment to its community and the principle of ‘Service Above Self.’

To make the day even more special, we were presented with a check and certificate, awarding our Club the 2023 Premier’s Community Service Environment Award, in recognition of our work with the Rotary Corner at Cobbler Creek.

The celebration wouldn’t have been complete without PP Norm Waldowski leading the ‘Happy Birthday’ song, as he enjoys doing. We even recorded it for posterity this time.

The event featured a wealth of delicious food, ample drinks, fellowship, fun, and a balance of valuable speeches to commemorate the occasion. We extend our gratitude to Club Photographer Ron Hann for capturing so many beautiful moments.

A big thank you goes out to all who attended and contributed to making the celebrations meaningful and special. A special shoutout to Mary, Toni, Indiya, and Fran for their hard work in catering for the event.
